7 C’s for Designing A Successful Worksite Wellness Program

I just love this time of year, don’t you? It’s a great time to get outside while the air is crisp to take in the array of beautiful colors nature has to offer. While doing so, it’s perfect for meditation and reflection.

Speaking of reflection, over the past seven months, I have used our wellness posts to highlight the Wellness Councils of America’s (WELCOA) 7 C’s for designing a successful, results-oriented worksite wellness program. These seven elements have been identified by WELCOA to be the foundational pillars in which to build your worksite wellness program from.

These elements include:

1.    Capturing Senior Level Support
2.    Creating a Cohesive Wellness Team
3.    Collecting Valuable Data
4.    Crafting an Operational Plan
5.    Choosing the Appropriate Health and Wellness Interventions
6.    Creating a Supportive Health Promoting Work Environment
7.    Carefully Evaluating Outcomes

I hope these past seven months of additional insight into these areas have provided you with ways to use these elements when assessing, developing, implementing, and evaluating your worksite wellness programs over time.

Keep in mind that worksite wellness is an ever-changing and dynamic field. What works for one organization may not work for another. What interests employees or senior leadership this year may not be the same next year. For those reasons, it’s always best to keep your fingers on the pulse of what’s most important for your organization and the culture you are trying to create!
