Reduce, Reuse, Recycle: OneDigital Hartford Goes Green

Earth Day is here. In celebration of this global event, we are launching a new committee here at OneDigital Hartford, focusing on the three R’s: reduce, reuse and recycle.

Did you know that 300 million tons of fossil fuel-based plastic are sold each year and 90% of this plastic is thrown away, destroying our food, our water and our health?

Following up on last year’s Earth Day goal to end plastic pollution, we realized we did not have a recycling plan in place. That needed to change.

The goal of this committee is to focus on reducing our plastic and paper goods consumption. We’ve already started swapping out paper products for reusable plates, bowls and silverware as well as glasses to eliminate the need for plastic water bottles.

This Earth Day, Monday, April 22, we will implement a new recycling initiative that will focus on recycling items by category (just like Whole Foods does!). Two new stations will be placed on either side of our office, making it convenient for our team to recycle their paper, plastic, cans and more. In addition, we are adding community-based trash cans in localized areas to reduce the amount of plastic trash bags being thrown out every night.
