Shelley McLean Discusses Millennials' Preference for Benefits Technology with SHRM

Technology continues to transform the open-enrollment process.

In recent years employers have had to increase their spending on benefits-related technology especially as a mechanism to communicate and educate the workforce about new offerings. Shelly McLean, a senior client executive at OneDigital Charlotte, agrees that the new wave of workers, millennials, want a benefits system that is easily accessible and can take care of everything at once in one place. Especially prevalent during open enrollment, growing capabilities of technology can educate employees on the plan that makes the most sense for them. Shelley notes in the article “Online Platforms Transform Open Enrollment” published in SHRM, how Millennials, in particular, are accustomed to and expect to learn about their benefits through self-service choices, but that human support remains a popular asset. No matter the technological advances, or the generation, people appreciate face to face communication.
