TakeCharge Summit: A Special Evening

For those who are familiar with the history of our organization, it should come as no surprise that we are in a constant state of self-evaluation to continually improve upon everything we do for and on behalf of our clients. Since becoming part of OneDigital in 2013, this reflective process has only been enhanced.

A great example of this is our recent event, the TakeCharge Summit: Tucker Carlson and Paul Begala Live at Infinity Hall that we hosted in Hartford on April 6th. We were joined by 200+ clients, prospective clients and colleagues who were treated to an up close and personal discussion with two of Washington’s top political commentators, Paul Begala of CNN and Tucker Carlson of Fox News, who shared their candid, informative, and frank take on the 2016 Presidential election. I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to step outside the insurance world for a minute to play political moderator and thought I would share a few observations.

First, I am ashamed to say that prior to our event I had never been to Infinity Music Hall in Hartford.  For those in the Connecticut area, don’t wait as long as I did to check out this truly unique venue. Dan Hincks, CEO, and his capable staff did a wonderful job working with us to provide our attendees with an exceptional experience.

In the lead up to the event, I had little idea what to anticipate regarding my interaction with these two seasoned political pundits.  Any anxieties I may have harbored were completely removed upon our introduction. In the twenty minutes we had prior to going on stage, we discussed a variety of topics, but kept gravitating back to politics. In addition to being engaging and professional, it was so apparent that they are both deeply passionate about their chosen profession.

From my seat on the stage, I had the benefit of a different perspective and was able to see the crowd’s lively reactions to the remarks being made by Tucker and Paul. I was also able to witness the intermingling of long time clients, employees, new clients, insurance colleagues and prospective clients. Though I am sure many attendees were drawn to the event by an opportunity to see our talented guests, I am equally confident that a significant contributor to the success of the evening is the fact that people know our employees as being passionate professionals, like Tucker and Paul.

For our audience, I would hope that most, if not all, found the evening to be informative, entertaining and thought provoking. But I also hope that they found it reaffirming of one thing — our organization is special. We’re proud to continue to be a trusted and strategic advisor that delivers the most important thing you need from your benefits partner—peace of mind. Our ability to see around the corner on our clients’ behalf, and to treat the success of their business like it’s our own, is one of our core principles. More than one person asked me the general question, “how are you guys going to top that?” As I noted in my opening, we are already working on it.
