About the Event

Independent Contractor vs. Employee: Are You Properly Classifying Your Employees?

In the workplace there are a number of different worker classifications, but one of the most important distinctions is between an independent contractor and an employee. Employers consistently struggle with making this determination with the increasingly fluid nature of employee populations. Whether an employee is an independent contractor or an employee has significant implications for the employment relationship impacting wages, taxes, benefits, and more.

During this session you will learn:

  • Definition of an Independent Contractor
  • Definition of an Employee
  • Factors to Consider When Classifying Employees
  • Classification Impact on the Employment Relationship
  • Consequences of Worker Misclassification
  • Remedies for Worker Misclassification
