Meet the Speakers Panel:
Steve Cain, CEO, Northern California Market, UnitedHealthcare
Steve Cain joined UnitedHealthcare in 2007 where he’s held numerous market leadership roles. He brings more than 20 years of industry leadership, sales & marketing expertise, and executive management experience to his role with the organization.
His current role has him facilitating market wide growth strategies that spans across provider systems, consultants, brokers, sales, marketing, and alliances. He is also responsible for driving P&L stability across internal verticals including Public Sector, Small Group, and Key Accounts. With a strong focus on talent retention and recruitment, he has developed a best in class culture that has allowed Northern California Market to see substantial growth. Steve has been a significant contributor to not only market share and growth, but has increased the organizations footprint and reputation.
Prior to joining UHC, Steve spent 10 years in Chicago and held various sales roles with Humana and the consulting firm Byrne & Byrne where he was a Benefit Consultant.
Steve currently lives in Danville, CA with his wife and two boys (ages 12 & 10). He’s an avid runner, triathlete and cyclist.
Beth Andersen, President, California Commercial Markets, Anthem Blue Cross
Beth Andersen is President of Anthem Blue Cross and oversees the management of Anthem’s commercial business and strategy in California, working collaboratively with local and state elected officials to help transform health care.
Prior to the President’s role, Beth was the Vice President and General Manager of California Large Group at Anthem Blue Cross.
Before joining Anthem, Beth served as Senior Vice President of Enterprise Solutions at Optum. She also led an ancillary and digital wellness company, which were both owned by Cambia Health in Portland, Oregon. Prior to these roles, Beth held a variety of leadership positions at Aetna, where she last served as President of the company’s West Region and had oversight of all lines of commercial business spanning 11 states.
Beth has served on the boards of several digital companies including Wildflower Health and Mobiquity. Beth received both her Master’s in Business Administration and her Bachelor’s in Economics at the University of California, Berkeley.
Don Antonucci, Senior VP, Commercial Markets, Blue Shield of California
Don Antonucci is Senior Vice President of Commercial Markets at Blue Shield of California, a tax-paying nonprofit health plan with over $20B in annual revenue serving more than 4M members in the state’s commercial, individual and government markets. He is responsible for management and performance of all commercial sales (over $10B in total revenue) in addition to relationships with key state agencies. Antonucci also leads the Commercial underwriting team and efforts to create a compelling value proposition across key lines of employer business.
Antonucci is a healthcare leader and strategic growth executive with over 25 years of experience bringing products and services to markets comprised of publicly traded and nonprofit health insurers. He is focused on applying his experience in research, market analytics, strategy and sales to grow memberships and strong financials for health insurers.
Prior to joining Blue Shield in 2018, Antonucci served as the Chief Business Officer of 10xHealth, an advanced technology solutions company. Previously, Antonucci was President of Regence BlueShield (Washington state), and President of Regence BlueCross BlueShield of Oregon. The catalyst for his stellar career began with Anthem, Inc. in senior sales management and marketing roles.
He is an active board member for the California Chamber of Commerce and the Silicon Valley Leadership Group. Throughout his career, Antonucci has served a wide range of nonprofit boards and professional organizations. He has been published on several occasions and has his Life and Health Producer License. Antonucci earned his Master of Arts in Public Policy Analysis and Administration from Binghamton University (State University of New York) and obtained his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from State University of New York College at Cortland.
