Laura A. Paszkiewicz, J.D.

Employee Benefits Attorney

About

Laura leads health and welfare compliance consulting for the OneDigital West Region. She combines her decades of experience as an overall account manager with her deep compliance knowledge to provide unique and practical assistance to plan sponsors. Laura believes that for compliance efforts to be successful, they must be integrated into the overall benefits ecosystem – including budgets, administrative systems, vendor partners and staffing.

As an account manager, Laura is responsible for strategic planning, program evaluation, plan implementation, employee communication and on-going vendor management for several large employer accounts. Over the years she has worked with major corporations, non-profit entities and boutique firms regarding their employee benefit plans and leave of absence administration.
Laura is an attorney by background, and regularly assists plan sponsors in complying with the myriad of statutes, regulations, agency actions and court cases that impact the administration of employee benefit programs and HR policies. She is an expert in the Affordable Care Act (ACA), HIPAA privacy and security rules, COBRA, the tax code, ERISA and related laws. She regularly consults with clients regarding the impact of a growing number of state and local rules as well.

In 1986, she began her career as a staff member to the United States Senate Special Committee on Aging under the late Senator John Heinz (R-PA). She joined One Digital in 2020, after working as a consultant at several major benefits consulting and brokerage firms.

Laura holds a B.A. degree with honors from Benedictine College and a law degree from Washington University. She is a frequent speaker on benefits compliance, and a former instructor in the Certified Employee Benefit Specialist program through St. Louis University.
