Earlier in his career, Dan spent a decade in collegiate athletics, serving as the head coach at Johnson & Wales University Charlotte and an assistant men’s basketball coach at Queens University of Charlotte under Bart Lundy. During this time, the program achieved national recognition, advancing to the NCAA Division II Final Four and securing multiple 25‑win seasons. He previously worked at UNC‑Wilmington in coaching and operations roles focused on scouting, player development, and program logistics.

Dan holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington and completed his masters degree at Queens University of Charlotte. Dan currently resides in Huntersville, NC with his wife Kelly and their two children.
