Esselman Steps Into CIO Role to Guide Next Phase of OneDigital’s Investment Evolution

OVERLAND PARK, KS – April 23, 2025– OneDigital Investment Advisors LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of OneDigital ®, today announced the promotion of Michael Esselman to Chief Investment Officer (CIO) of its Financial Services Practice.

Michael has served as Interim CIO since October 2024, playing a key role in the stewardship of OneDigital’s investment platform. His promotion to the permanent role reflects both his demonstrated leadership and deep knowledge of the firm’s integrated retirement and wealth management solutions.

In this role, Michael will continue to oversee the investment platform, including the selection and due diligence of investment strategies and fund managers, as well as the portfolios and models managed by OneDigital’s in-house investment team. He also works closely with a diverse range of clients across institutional and wealth management segments, bringing perspective that helps inform how the firm develops and communicates investment solutions aligned with client goals.

Michael joined OneDigital in 2020 through the acquisition of Resources Investment Advisors, where he had already established himself as a leader in the retirement and wealth space. Since then, he has played a critical role in building OneDigital’s financial services practice, helping integrate strategic acquisitions and deepen relationships across the firm’s partner network. Over the last five years, Michael has been instrumental in driving the practice’s growth and scale, contributing to a double-digital growth rate. Prior to Resources, he was an account manager at PIMCO, where he worked closely with retirement plan sponsors on investment selection and economic insights and helped launch the firm’s first online asset allocation tool, widely adopted across the advisor and consultant community.
