Maelyn brings to OneDigital a solid legal background in understanding an employer’s needs. Admitted to the Florida state bar in 2019, she has focused her practice exclusively on labor and employment law, specifically representing management's interests.
Maelyn holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with concentrations in finance and accounting from the University of Massachusetts at Lowell and a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Florida Levin College of Law. In her prior litigation practice, Maelyn represented private and public-sector employers in various labor and employment-related matters. Maelyn regularly defended employers in lawsuits and administrative proceedings arising from federal and state anti-discrimination and anti-retaliation statutes, the Family and Medical Leave Act, the Fair Labor Standards Act, and state and federal constitutional claims, including First Amendment challenges. In addition to her litigation practice, Maelyn routinely counseled and trained clients on employment-related compliance, including internal investigation procedures, handbook and policy drafting, accommodation issues, and wage and hour compliance.
At OneDigital, Maelyn is on the national HR Consulting Compliance Team, advising and providing support for compliance functions. Although she does not provide legal advice to clients in her current role, Maelyn assists clients in areas such as critical consulting, compliance, and training.
